Product Description
To better understand meiosis, students need to understand the vocabulary involved in sexual reproduction. This activity will teach these terms to your ESL students and provide background knowledge when discussing meiosis. Included are 16 vocabulary terms (see preview for terms). An animated PowerPoint allows the teacher to introduce each term, definition, image and other discussion before moving on to the next term. Students receive a table to fill in as each term is introduced. A section for translation (in Spanish, but can be edited) is included. Students also complete matching activities and card sorts to reinforce their learning. Teacher notes are included in the note section of the PowerPoint.
A quiz has been added (two versions) to check for understanding. The quiz is in both printable and digital formats.
The matching, card sort and quiz are in English. Students are encouraged to use their translations (if needed) on their notes to learn and recognize the English terminology used in the lesson. The definitions are simple. More detail can be added as ESL students move through the unit and learn more about meiosis.
